August Car Sales Down from YTD AND last August Sales

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

August is rarely a banner month for auto sales, but August, 2010 stands out in sharp contrast to August, 2009, when the now-defunct Cash for Clunkers program boosted auto sales across the board, especially with Honda’s Accord, Civic, and CR-V, and the Toyota Camry. It should not be surprising then, that there have been fewer sales of these cars this year than last.

In fact, according to a report from Kicking Tires, five of this year’s top ten best selling models are seeing lower sales numbers this year than they did in 2009, though until August began only one of them was seeing lower numbers.

So what are the top sales for August? Here’s an image that shows the top sales, in order, as well as the degree of change.
