Land Rover Debuting a Hybrid Plug-In/Diesel in Geneva

Automotive News reported this morning that Land Rover has announced plans to debut a prototype diesel hybrid plug-in at next month’s Geneva Auto Show.

The prototype, known as the Range_e, is reportedly based on the Range Rover Sport, and is equipped with a 3.0 diesel engine and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Land Rover said in a statement that the vehicle will have a 20-mile range when operating solely on its battery, and a 690-mile range using the combined diesel and electric features. The top speed will be 120 mph.

The Range_e will be Land Rover’s first four-wheel-drive vehicle to achieve CO2 emissions of 89 grams per kilometer.

In addition to the Range_e, Land Rover will also introduce the new Range Rover Evogue in both five-door and coupe versions at the Geneva Auto Show, with details on pricing inthe European market forthcoming.
